Francis Monyango
Francis Monyango is a seasoned privacy and data protection practitioner with over 7 years of extensive experience in providing privacy advisory services, ensuring compliance, managing projects, conducting research, and building strong relationships with regulators. As an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and a designated Fellow of Information Privacy by the International Association of Privacy Professionals, he brings a deep understanding of the technology legal landscape and privacy best practices to his work.
He previously served as the partner incharge of technology and data protection at SM&M Advocates LLP and as the IT and Data Governance Research Fellow at CIPIT, Strathmore
University. There he played a major role in researching, teaching and managing the Data Policy Centre. Additionally, Francis has substantial industry experience, having served as a Data Protection Officer and Public Policy Manager at Oxygene MCL, where he successfully implemented robust data protection measures and managed public affairs and policy initiatives for various clients.
Francis holds a Bachelor of Laws degree and has obtained certifications in privacy compliance such as the Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) and the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM). These qualifications further attest to his comprehensive knowledge of global privacy frameworks and his ability to effectively address privacy and data protection challenges in diverse contexts.
